Professor Bawah, is Associate Professor, Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS), University of Ghana, and a Research Affiliate of the Population Studies Center (PSC), University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining RIPS, he was Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, New York. He serves as a member of Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority’s Technical Advisory Committee on Clinical Trials (TAC-CT).
He is a member of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP), Union for African Population Studies (UAPS), and the Population Association of America. He has published extensively in international peer reviewed journals and serves as an Associate Editor of Journal of Global Health Science and an Academic Editor for PloS One.
He holds B.A. in Geography and Resource Development with Classical History and Civilization and M.A. in Population Studies, both from University of Ghana, and M.A. and Ph.D in Demography from the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on population health in Africa, particularly in the areas of health systems development, infant and child mortality, health equity, reproductive health, and research methodology issues.
